姪の結婚式 カナダ

姪の結婚式の為に、夕方の飛行機に乗ってカナダに行くことになっていた。

ITCのクラブの最終例会の日でもあるので、大きな荷物は空港に送り、朝早く小さな荷物を持ち、途中でその荷物も預け、会場の大阪市中央公会堂に向かう。
クラブ会長としての最後の例会なので、最後まできちんとしなければ・・・と、気が張る。

会長退任のあいさつは次のようでした。

“This year became an unforgettable year for the Japanese people.
I pray for a speedy revival and restoration after the great East Japan disaster .

This is my 2nd term of presidency for our club after more than 10 years.
At the beginning of the presidency, I was bewildered because so many things were new to me. It took me almost to the end of the term to know all the procedures, but I did my best.
Members, I appreciated your patience as I learned.

Meanwhile, in my private life, time flies so fast!
My daughter married last September in Canada; my son married this April; and my niece will marry this weekend. I will fly to Canada this evening and will come back next Tuesday it’s just the day before the Council meeting.

It said the time flies when people get old. I am old enough to know that feeling, and this year is one of the busiest years for me.

As a president of our club, today is the day I was expecting to come quickly.
I am happy to pass the leadership on the next president. I sincerely hope that our club continues on in good condition through the next term and beyond.

Members, thank you very much for your help and cooperation over this term."


無事例会も終えて、飛行機に乗ったのは夕方の5時過ぎ。

飛行機の中から大熊座がとても近く、良く見えた。

今回はサンフランシスコ経由だったが少し早く着き,約9時間30分で着いた。

そこからバンクーバーに行き、同じ21日の3時過ぎに着く。それからバスに乗りフェリーに乗り、娘のいるビクトリアについたのは夜の9時過ぎだったけれど、まだあたりは明るかった。

娘は仕事中とのことで、娘婿が迎えに来てくれた。

娘たちは一軒家を買ったので、引っ越しの準備をしているとのことで、家の中は箱だらけだった。

買った家は築99年。娘婿は誇らしげだった。日本人なら少し考えてしまうけれど、娘婿曰く、昔の建築物は上等の木を使っているので物が良いとのこと。来年100年目になるけれど、○○記念物にはまだなれないそうな。

娘は、姪のレセプションのために鶴を60羽とピンクの薄い花紙でダリアの花をたくさん作ることになっていて、娘婿は花を、私は鶴を折ることになった(折らされることになった)。
